Witter Bynner: Selected Letters Ed. by James Kraft
Witter Bynner: Selected Letters Ed. by James Kraft (Farrar, Straus, Giroux / first edition hardback, 1981)
To judge from his letters – published here – to D.H. Lawrence, Ezra Pound, William Carlos Williams, Christopher Isherwood and Henry Miller amongst many others, Witter Bynner (1881–1968) was certainly well connected in the literary world, however this poet, critic, biographer, playwright and translator deserves to be better known to contemporary readers and the publication of these letters represents an attempt to delineate Bynner's place in literature, letting him express his sense of himself and his time.
Very good / near fine condition with bright, unmarked pages throughout. Some foxing to top edge of text block. No marking to buff-coloured clothbound boards and gilt-embossed spine. Light wear only to top and bottom outside edges of dustjacket.
