Clearly, Cicero had many friends, and this translation (in two volumes) of Cicero's Letters to his Friends is a companion to Cicero's Letters to Atticus, also published in Penguin Classics. The letters contained within are extremely varied. Some are concerned with political affairs and the figures of Roman legend – Pompey, Caesar, Brutus, Cassius, Mark Antony, while others deal in the small details of everyday Roman life. Either way, all step out from the page with enormous clarity.
Two paperback editions. Some very light shelfwear - particularly to Vol 2 at top and bottom of spine, but on the whole both volumes remain in very good condition with clean, unmarked pages which are free from notes, underlining and inscriptions, and no creasing to cover or spine.
