Human Guinea Pigs: Experimentation on Man by M. H. Pappworth

In 1967, before the first heart transplants were performed, Human Guinea Pigs was already the storm-centre of a passionate dispute about the medical ethics of hospital experiments on human beings. In this Pelican book, Dr Pappworth presents disturbing evidence of the dangers of this type of research. At the time of writing, the human being was the only animal on which doctors could experiment without the need of a licence. And Dr Pappworth argued that until there are achnowledged and observed safeguards for all hospital patients, abuses would inevitably continue.

A very rare Pelican title in very good condition overall, with clean, unmarked pages which are free from notes and underlining. Some light creasing to spine commensurate with having been read and some very light creasing to outside edge of front cover and bottom, outside corner of back cover. Front cover has also been sun-bleached, causing it to lose colour uniformity.
