This novel, completed in 1951 but never before published, is the third volume in H. D.'s prose trilogy, following The Sword Went Out to Sea (1947) and White Rose and the Red (1948).

Written in poetically condensed elliptic style, this hybrid novel, called a 'romance' by the author, reveals her feminist theology and concludes her obsession with spiritualism.

First edition hardcover in fine condition with very light signs of shelfwear only to dustjacket and clean, unmarked pages which are free from notes and underlining, and inscriptions.
