The Olympia Press was a French Publishing house established by Maurice Girodias, which specialised in the publication of pornography / erotica (often penned anonymously by writers who subsequently went on to achieve fame. However, in addition to these risqué works, Olympia Press also published numerous cutting-edge works by literary writers whose work was prohibited in their own countries, such as Samuel Beckett, William Burroughs, Vladimir Nabakov, Alexander Trocchi and J. P. Donleavy. It was able to do so by publishing the novels in the English language only, hence the 'Traveller's Companion' label.

Sub-titled 'The Romance of the School for Libertinage', this is Volume 2 of a three volume edition of the Marquis De Sade's epic erotic novel. Introduction by Georges Bataille. Seeming first edition.

Softcover in excellent condition with few signs of having been read. Binding remains tight and only the very lightest signs of shelfwear to cover and spine.
