Lollipop by Maxwell Kenton (Olympia Press Traveller's Companion Series No 64 / 1962)

The Olympia Press was a French Publishing house established by Maurice Girodias, which specialised in the publication of pornography / erotica (often penned anonymously by writers who subsequently went on to achieve fame. However, in addition to these risqué works, Olympia Press also published numerous cutting-edge works by literary writers whose work was prohibited in their own countries, such as Samuel Beckett, William Burroughs, Vladimir Nabakov, Alexander Trocchi and J. P. Donleavy. It was able to do so by publishing the novels in the English language only, hence the 'Traveller's Companion' label.

'Maxwell Kenton' is the collective pseudonym of both Terry Southern and Mason Hoffenberg, and is better known under the title of 'Candy', which has since become an erotic classic. Originally published in 1959, Candy was immediately banned and is here republished in 1962 as 'Lollipop'.

Softcover. Some light creasing to spine and, perhaps, some fading of colour which is a lighter green than some other Olympia editions. Otherwise, good condition overall with  clean, unmarked pages, tight binding and light signs of shelfwear only.

Pages: 190
