Houses of Joy by Wu Wu Meng (Traveller's Companion Series No 75 / 1965)

The Olympia Press was a French Publishing house established by Maurice Girodias, which specialised in the publication of pornography / erotica (often penned anonymously by writers who subsequently went on to achieve fame. However, in addition to these risqué works, Olympia Press also published numerous cutting-edge works by literary writers whose work was prohibited in their own countries, such as Samuel Beckett, William Burroughs, Vladimir Nabakov, Alexander Trocchi and J. P. Donleavy. It was able to do so by publishing the novels in the English language only, hence the 'Traveller's Companion' label.

Not much known about the probably, pseudonymous author of this erotic novel. This is the first Olympia edition, fourth printing.

'New printing', July 1965. Softcover. Scuff to bottom, outside corner of front cover caused by removal of price sticker, some very light foxing to outside vertical edge of text block and some very light wear to edges of spine but overall this book remains in very good condition with clean, unmarked pages and tight binding.

Pages: 238
