The Book of Margery Kempe Ed. by Sanford Brown Meech with Prefatory Note by Hope Emily Allen (Early English Text Society / 1982)
Margery Kempe was an English Christian mystic whose book, The Book of Margery Kempe, published in the 1430s, is considered by some to be the first autobiography in the English language. The book chronicles her domestic trials, her pilgrimages to numerous holy sites in Europe and the middle east, as well as her mystical conversations with God. She was tried for heresy but is now honoured in the Anglican Communion. – Source: Wikipedia
