Egyptian Archaeology by G. Maspero
Egyptian Archaeology by G. Maspero (H. Grevel and Co / 1887)
First edition hardback translated from the French by Amelia B. Edwards. Good condition overall with clean, unmarked, deckle-edged (untrimmed) pages. Light wear only to front and back cover boards. Rubbing and some fraying of binding at top and bottom edges of spine section. Some loosening of binding and also some cracking of interior of binding at front and back revealing webbing, but sound overall.
Interestingly, sticker on inside front cover with name of original owner, 'Annie Goodison'. Our own research suggests that this may in fact be Anne Goodison who according to a thread on the Bootle Times website was known to be 'a formidable collector of Egyptology artefacts', some of which were recently exhibited as 'The Goodison Collection' at The Atkinson museum, Southport. Ms Goodison was also the wife of celebrated civil engineer, George Goodison, after whom a road in Liverpool was named which later also gave its name to the stadium of Everton FC.
