The Jungle by Upton Sinclair
The Jungle by Upton Sinclair (Penguin Modern Classics / 1965)
The classic muck-raking novel of 1906 which exposed conditions in the Chicago meatpacking industry and which led a few months later to the passing of the 1906 Pure Food and Drug Act and Meat Inspection Act in the US. Wow!
Good-to-very-good condition copy with lightly-tanned pages and some light foxing to top edge of text block. Binding remains tight and there is no visible creasing to spine. Some sunning (bleaching) of spine and greying of white sections of the cover.
